Givingthanks Trip - Fund A Need
Trip participants often ask what they can to do help get ready for their upcoming trip. The answer is always the same – if possible, please contribute to one of the healthcare initiatives that you will be assisting with during the trip. You see, the Dominican Republic Medical Partnership of Village Church (DRMP) diligently fundraises year-round so that Village members and friends can help provide free healthcare to some of the most underserved people on the planet. Each year, this trip costs the DRMP approx. $20,000 in medications & supplies, salaries of our Dominican healthcare partners at Fundación Enciende Una Luz (Light A Candle Foundation), ground transportation & fuel costs, just to name a few. Children’s Health & Nutrition Clinic: $500/day ($2,000 for all four days)
- 60 kids/day will be seen at our Children’s Health & Nutrition Clinic. Your support helps cover a malnutrition assessment and further intervention if needed; a 30-day supply of vitamins; educational programming & materials; a food kit full of healthy foods to share with their family; and the salaries of our Dominican healthcare partners at the clinic.
Children’s Dental Clinic: $600/day ($2,400 for all four days)
- 80 kids/day will be seen at our Children’s Dental Clinic. Your support helps cover a dental check by our Dominican dentist, Dr. Niove; educational programming & materials; a fluoride treatment for each child; and complete dental kits for every member of the child’s family; and the salaries of our Dominican healthcare partners at the clinic.
Hypertension Clinic: $700/day ($2,800 for all four days)
- 150 adults/day will be seen at our Hypertension (HTN) Clinic where they will be tested and treated for HTN and monitored by our Dominican doctors throughout the year. Your support helps cover a 30-day supply of HTN medication for all new and existing patients; a 30-day supply of vitamins; educational programming; and the salaries of our Dominican healthcare partners at the clinic.
Medical Clinic & Pharmacy: $1,200/day ($4,800 for all four days)
- 200 patients/day will be seen and treated at our Medical Clinic & Pharmacy. Doctors & other healthcare providers treat all types of health concerns such as illness & infections, wounds & burns, gynecological, GI and more. This is an expensive clinic due to the exorbitant cost of prescription medications and medical supplies in the DR. Your support helps cover our patients’ prescription and OTC medications & supplies; further evaluations if needed; and the salaries of our Dominican healthcare providers at the clinic.
